Covid-19 has been a real pain in the ass (to say the least) for our community. But creative minds are thinking of ways to get us closer together even though it’s not in real life. The people behind the Euro Fetish Show Contest that ran earlier this year are now coming with a new project: the International Fetish Short Film Festival.
Alphatribe talked to Janos Martenyi, president of SLFC (Spanish Leather & Fetish Community) and the thriving force behind the initiative.
Janos: “During this lockdown period many of us have learned how to use a camera. Not only for their ‘only fans’ profile, but for communication in general. It catalysed the idea to organise a virtual Fetish Short Film Festival. We’re thinking about films with a fetish theme, but not pornographic.”
“I came across the idea when I saw the clip made by Mikko Karekivi from Finland for the Mr Rubber Europe contest at Darklands. It looked incredible and I knew there would be more creative minds In our community who could bring a fetish story through video. This festival offers them a chance to share their creativity with the audience.”
How can people participate and what’s in it for them?
“ Everyone can participate as our aim is to make this a true community event. Submission can be made by an individual, a group or a club, … all are welcome. The short films need to be between 10 and 20 minutes and be about gay and fetish life, not pornography. People can send in their films until 23 January to firstname.lastname@example.org.”
“The world-wide audience will be able to vote for their favorite next to a professional jury who will score the films. The winners will receive an award and several prizes which we a putting together at the moment. We hope to be able to show the films in a real theatre once the restrictions allow us to.”
Keep an eye on alphatribe.com as we will announce the release of all participating movies on the online platform of the festival.
For now, be creative and make sure to send in your entry!
