The Kings Cross Steelers, formed in 1995, were the trailblazers and are still a team today. In 2020, the club will celebrate its twentyfifth year playing rugby union. There are now over 60 official gay rugby union teams across the world. Every two years, they compete for the Bingham Cup. The event is named in honour of Mark Bingham, a rugby player who died in the 11 September attacks in the US.

Professional rugby union is played around the globe, from Italy to New Zealand. International teams compete for the Rugby World Cup every four years. Rugby is like American Football, but without all the protective gear. It’s a game for real men.
