Janos and Henk
Where did the idea for this event come from?
Janos: I’ve been in close contact with Neri Grimaldi, one of my close friends in Italy during lockdown. We talked almost daily. After 4 weeks I cracked down when I couldn’t visit my father for his birthday. I was delighted to see the fun movies such as those from Sandro (former Mr Leather Belgium) on Facebook and I said to Neri we should come up with something like that to replace the Eurovision Song Contest. 5 or 6 videos, just to have some fun. But in a true snowball effect, 5 became 10 became … 21.
Henk: There was no official request or organisation behind it. We just asked some friends who asked friends who asked friends, … In total 43 countries were asked of which 36 responded. Unfortunately not everyone was able to make it. I remember the guys in Turkey and Azerbaijan who had great ideas but had to cancel their participation because live-streaming their face in a gay (fetish) show could cause them a lot of problems in their home country, even loosing their job. It saddened me to see that happening. It shows there is stil a lot of work to do when it comes to human and gay rights in many countries.
Janos: The great thing about this initiative is that for the first time we see so many European clubs work together on one project. Even in some countries were clubs are working together as one jury is heartwarming to see. And not to forget; it’s a super inclusive event with contribution from every letter in the lgbtq …. family. Even straight people participate (laughs).
What can the audience expect?
The unexpected (laughing)! The show will be similar to the Eurovision Song Contest. there will be three hosts presenting the show in English, Spanish and French. Each country, their performer and the act will be presented after which the act is streamed. The acts vary from comedy over singing to community. It’s gonna be fun and we hope we can help people forget about their misery for a while. The presenters are Jamie Wake (UK), Fabio Cuir (France) and Ander Bask Leather (ES).
Is there a prize to be won?
TROPHY
We made a beautiful trophy that will be handed to the winner.
DINNER SHOW
Cabaret Artishow in Paris offered a dinner and show for two persons for the winner of Euro Fetish Show Contest. Of course only after the Pandemic!
DARKLANDS MADNESS & ALPHA MADNESS PASSES
Darklands is offering a Madness weekend pass to all the participating artists and an Alpha Madness Pass for the winning performer(s).
How will the scoring take place?
Cayetano our webmaster and Simba our graphic designer have been working for days to get the software ready to bring the voting live in the good old fashioned way of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Gael Leung Chong Wo
Gael is the current Mr Leather Belgium and appointed head of the Belgian Jury.
Gael, what is the task as head of the jury?
I helped to invite our judging panel and bring them up to date on the voting process. But most of all I need to make sure the scoring runs smoothly.
That sounds like a challenge.
It is, especially because the scoring is done in alphabetical order and Belgium is the third country in the list. That gives me about 10 minutes to collect the votes from our 10 jury members and calculate the final results of the Belgian jury.
After which you will be announcing them via livestream.
That’s the plan. Bit nervous about this. What to wear, which background, etc .. (laughs).
