Ten years ago, the idea of same-sex marriage was still a novelty. A decade later, the confetti is flying. And we’ve embraced every genre from celebrity weddings like Elton and David’s, to military and themed celebrations. Australia and Ireland voted overwhelmingly to allow same-sex weddings in referendums. Churches are slowly catching up, but we don’t really care about their archaic views as this is the 21st century and gay rights are not going anywhere. The result is that we can now marry who we want in 28 countries from Argentina to Uruguay. There are still a lot of countries we need to work on, especially those in the Middle East and Africa which are stuck on their weird religious beliefs or in the 19th century!
